Afterimage

When Ezri Dax returns (?) to Deep Space 9, she is greeted with a mix of enthusiasm (Quark) and hesitancy (Worf). Meanwhile, Garak begins to suffer from panic attacks.

Wes and Clay discuss “Afterimage” and try to decide if bringing Dax back to the show was such a good idea. Plus! The guys discuss Garak cracking under pressure, Ezri getting promoted, and why podcasting with a cold is so annoying!

Ezri Dax returns to Deep Space 9 and finds her reception to be a mix of excitement and hesitancy. While some of the crew are able to accept young Ezri, some others are unable to forget about Jadzia. In the meantime, Garak begins to suffer from panic attacks that he believes are linked to his claustrophobia.

While bringing back Dax seems like a no-brainer (the character is designed to be resurrected), “Afterimage” leaves the audience wondering if it was truly the right decision.

The episode itself is a character study that might include a few too many characters. Coupled with the innate confusion about what it means to be a Trill, the episode struggles to find a central emotional core. And with the confusion about what it means to be a Trill, it’s difficult to understand how each of the other characters should react to Ezri.

Wes and Clay sit down to discuss the problem with bringing back Dax and how the show might have instead handled that story line. They try to get to the bottom of the Trill Conundrum and wonder who is really “driving” the personality.

Plus!

The guys discuss Garak acting out of character, Bashir and O’Brien attending the party together, and portraying Worf as an intimidating alien!
