Cupid’s Errant Arrow

Mariner is suspicious of Boimler’s new girlfriend. Tendi and Rutherford grow jealous of a bigger starship’s gear.

In this episode of the podcast, Wes and Clay analyze “Cupid’s Errant Arrow” and wonder if Lower Decks would be better suited to exploring the dark edge of Star Trek lore. Plus! The guys talk about sitcom plots versus Star Trek plots, mixing up the characters, and Wes gives some truncated thoughts about the latest trailer for “The Batman”!

In “Cupid’s Errant Arrow”, Mariner is suspicious of Boimler’s new girlfriend. Tendi and Rutherford grow jealous of a bigger starship’s gear.

Star Trek: Lower Decks continues to expand its relationships, but not between our main characters! Brad Boimler’s girlfriend, a lieutenant from a powerful starship, visits the young ensign on the USS Cerritos. Mariner is convinced that Boimler cannot attract a girlfriend via normal means, and so she sets out to uncover the dastardly plan behind Boimler’s infatuation. If the girlfriend is a Suliban or a salt vampire or a changeling, Mariner will be sure to find out the truth and rub Boimler’s face in it. Will Boimler be able to save face with his new lady friend in front of her old flame? Or will the parasite in his brain overpower the entire female contingent of the Cerritos?

In the “B” plot, Rutherford and Tendi learn that the USS Vancouver has some advanced monkey wrenches (remember the magic wrench from Star Trek: Picard?). In their excitement, they head over to the Vancouver and try to get some of that sweet equipment salvation. What they learn, however, is that being an engineer on an advanced starship is not all it’s cracked up to be.

In the “C” plot (!), the senior officers of the Cerritos attempt to save multiple civilizations from a moon that is about to explode. Bureaucratic adventures abound as Captain Freeman has to negotiate the various factions and do some simple math to determine who wins and who loses.
