One Little Ship – Ft. Clay

O’Brien, Dax, and Bashir are shrunk down to “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” size while exploring an anomaly. Meanwhile, the Defiant is attacked and captured by Jem’Hadar, leaving the tiny runabout and tiny O’Brien, Dax, and Bashir no choice but to take their miniature ship and selves into the Defiant to retake it. Fortunately, it’s a tiny ship that can still shoot tiny photon torpedoes! DS9 returns to a sci-fi concept episode while still keeping the focus on the Dominion threat, and the result is an episode with a whole bunch of plots and information and tones. Clay and Wes discuss an episode that refuses to take things too seriously and ends up feeling like the whole is less than the sum of its parts.

Plus, the guys discuss the physics of being small, the whole being less than the sums of its parts, and revising the Jem’Hadar!

O’Brien, Dax, and Bashir are shrunk down to “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” size while exploring a spatial anomaly. Meanwhile, the Jem’Hadar capture the Defiant and force the remaining crew to repair the vessel. The tiny Starfleet officers are forced to take their tiny runabout into the Defiant in an attempt to thwart the Dominion’s plans and save the day.

The Jem’Hadar involved, however, are a strange sort. They’re divided into two groups: Alphas and Gamma’s. The names signify the quadrant in which the individuals were bred, and although they may look similar they have very different opinions about procedure. Will Sisko be able to stir up enough animosity between the Jem’Hadar? Or will the Jem’Hadar begin executing officers once they detect the subterfuge?

After what feels like years, DS9 returns to a sci-fi concept episode with an outing that never feels very serious. DS9 continues to poke fun at the very idea of a science fiction plot, and while it’s balanced against a B-plot that focuses on the Dominion war, it ends up feeling of two worlds (maybe an Alpha and a Gamma world?).

Clay and Wes discuss an episode that features a tiny runabout hiding within the larger Defiant, extremely stupid Jem’Hadar leadership, and puns galore!

Plus, the guys discuss the physics of being small, the whole being less than the sum of its parts, and rewriting the Jem’Hadar!
