In “Terminal Provocations”, the lovable but awkward Ensign Fletcher makes work difficult for Mariner and Boimler. Rutherford introduces Tendi to a holodeck training program he created.
Star Trek: Lower Decks returns with a script written by superstar Survivor champion, John Cochrane! The mastermind of only one of two “perfect games” in the history of Survivor, Cochrane returns to the hearts and minds of Star Trek fans as he pens the script for the sixth episode of the first season of Lower Decks. This was the fact that I chose to start the write up of this blog post with! I cannot say if that means good or bad things for the quality of the episode itself.
Mariner and Boimler are paired together yet again as they manage their relationship with Ensign Fletcher. Fletcher is a gung-ho ensign of the Lower Decks who is very interested in being a team player. One day, Fletcher is attacked as he works on some shield technology and loses a vital component. He convinces Boimler and Mariner to help him find those responsible, the Boimler and Mariner aren’t going to like what they find!
On the other side of the ship, Rutherford introduces Tendi to a training program he’s created. An AI named “Badgey” (similar to Microsoft Word’s “Clippy”) suddenly becomes homicidal when Fletchers actions with the missing shield tech starts a system wide collapse of the Cerritos. Rutherford and Tendi are chased across many holo-vistas, pursued by an animated Starfleet badge with a taste for human blood.
“Terminal Provocations” are the order of the day as the plots collide and cause chaos aboard the Cerritos.
In this episode of the podcast, Wes and Clay discuss getting what we wished for in regards to Star Trek: Lower Decks. Plus! The guys talk about bringing aboard a new main cast member, the hyper-violence of a holodeck gone bad, and give their thoughts about the recent trailer for Discovery’s third season!
