Scavengers

After receiving a message from Book, Burnham and Georgiou embark on a rogue mission to find him, leaving Saru to pick up the pieces with Admiral Vance. Meanwhile, Stamets forms an unexpected bond with Adira.

After receiving a message from Book, Burnham and Georgiou embark on a rogue mission to find him, leaving Saru to pick up the pieces with Admiral Vance. Meanwhile, Stamets forms an unexpected bond with Adira. “Scavengers” finds the Discovery settling into the 32nd century with some nifty new updates and a fresh coat of paint. The ship has been updated with new tech. The crew have been given 32nd century comm badges. And Michael Burnham has reverted to her old ways.

“Scavengers” sends Burnham and Georgiou on a mission to rescue Book, who has found himself trapped on a space pirate trash disposal site. The Andorian-Orion alliance runs a salvage operation where they take apart old starships and sell the parts to anyone who wants some. Saru’s orders are ignored, and Burnham and Georgiou head off in Books ship to try to rescue the charming rogue.

Back on Discovery, Adira and Stamets bond over Adira’s bold decision to adjust the Spore Drive without anyone’s permission. It’s a vital component of a failing Federation, but sure, why not go in an tinker with the connection ports. Stamets and Adira bond over the fact that they both love dead people, and Stamets gets a bit nervous over the fact that Adira is only 16. Discovery goes all in on the emotional drama, and it’s managed to find two characters who can bond over an extremely strange coincidental setup.

After Burnham and Georgiou escape the salvage yard and rescue Book, they return to the Federation HQ. Admiral Vance gives Burnham and earful and even yells at Saru a little bit because he didn’t believe Micahel Burnham from the start. Burnham is demoted from Saru’s number one position and relegated to her old science officer post.
