Strange Bedfellows

In “Strange Bedfellows”, the Dominion and Breen alliance could prove costly for the Federation. Worf and Ezri discover an unexpected ally on Cardassia. Dukat manages to turn Kai Winn to the Dark Side.

Wes and Clay discuss an episode that seems like a superior reboot of “Til Death Do Us Part”. Plus! The guys explore the potential redemption of Damar, the narrative need for Dukat, and the close out of Worf and Ezri.

In “Strange Bedfellows”, the Dominion and Breen alliance creates friction between Damar and Weyoun. On Cardassia, Worf and Ezri reconcile on the eve of their execution. Lastly, Dukat finally manages to turn Kai Winn to the dark side. And we start to wonder if The Final Chapter is going to begin to focus on any other characters!

The Dominion recruited the Breen to turn the tide of the war. In their efforts to appeal to the Breen, the Dominion begin to annoy Damar. As the leader of the Cardassian people, Damar vents his frustration with the lack of respect. Weyoun, however, seems to be viewing the Cardassians as little more than canon fodder. When a regiment of Cardassians are left to die in an attack, Damar begins to contemplate switching sides.

Meanwhile, Ezri and Worf work out their personal problems. They are imprisoned on Cardassia and facing execution. Ultimately, they manage to work through their differences and decide to remain friends. Worf will deal with losing Jadzia, and Ezri will deal with not being Jadzia. It took an entire episode of run time to get here, but thankfully this subplot seems to have finally ended!

Finally, Dukat reveals to Winn his relationship to the Pah-Wraiths. Shocked, Winn expels him from her company. After consulting with Kira, Winn realizes that to do the right thing would result in her giving up her power as Kai. Unfortunately, this is a sacrifice she is unwilling to make. And in the end, she makes a supervillain speech and joins the Dark Side.

In this podcast, Wes and Clay get together to discuss “Strange Bedfellows”. Is it just a (superior) re-do of “Til Death Do Us Part“?

Plus!

The guys analyze the narrative necessity of Dukat, the end of the Worf and Ezri conflict (finally!), and the redemption of Damar!
