The third season of Star Trek: Discovery comes to a close with “That Hope is You, Part II” as the Emerald Chain tightens its grip on the Federation. Plus, “The Burn” is solved! The third season of Discovery has been a bit of a let down. The jump to the future has not provided the kick to the narrative that was expected. The mystery of “The Burn” was probably planned as a MacGuffin but since the story surrounding it was so weak it became the de facto main story line. Through a spectacle of whizz-bang special effects and fight sequences, Michael Burnham and the crew of the USS Discovery take the fight to Osyraa and her crew of Daft Punk-esque regulators. Back on the dilithium holo-planet, Saru races against the clock to teach Su’Kal about the ways of the world and figure out the exact cause of “The Burn”.
