The wedding of Worf and Dax undergoes its final test when the matriarch of the House of Martok visits Deep Space 9. In order for the wedding to be given the blessing of the House, Dax must impress General Martok’s wife, Sirella. Unfortunately for Dax and Worf, Sirella is a proud Klingon heiress who is not too fond of outsiders. But she is fond of using the word “slut”!
Meanwhile, Worf and Martok invite Sisko, Bashir and O’Brien to attend Worf’s Klingon bachelor party. In true Klingon fashion, the party consists of fighting, fasting and suffering. Alexander also makes another DS9 appearance and has proven himself to be quite the pratfall artist.
After the heavy drama of the DS9 Occupation arc, the show settles down with a light hearted comedy episode that focuses on the marriage of Worf and Dax. It’s a reminder of the versatility of the Star Trek format, and a pleasant change in pace for the regular viewer. We get to enjoy some Hawaiian dance moves, hungover Starfleet officers, and some surprisingly touching speeches from both Martok and Sisko.
Plus! Wes and Clay discuss their own experiences with weddings and bachelor parties, the high quality alcohol found in Montreal strip clubs, and what makes for a good Martok impersonation!
