Absolute Candor

Picard and the crew head to the planet Vashti. Fourteen years ago, Picard helped Romulan refugees settle on the planet, and he befriended a group of warrior monks who practiced the art of “absolute candor”. On Vashti, Picard reunites with Elnor, a yound man who Picard knew as a small boy.

Meanwhile, Narek continues to try to gleam information about Maddox and the other androids from Soji.

In this episode of the podcast, Wes and Clay discuss the merits of “absolute candor”, using a holodeck as an office, and Star Trek beheadings!

The crew’s journey to Freecloud takes a detour when Picard orders a stop at the planet Vashti, where Picard and Raffi relocated Romulan refugees 14 years earlier. Upon arrival, Picard reunites with Elnor (Evan Evagora), a young Romulan he befriended during the relocation. Meanwhile, Narek continues his attempts to learn more about Soji while Narissa’s impatience with his lack of progress grows. It is with “Absolute Candor” that Jean-Luc Picard continues his latest journey!

Absolute Candor introduces Elnor to the show. Elnor is a Romulan male who has been raised by a group of female warrior monks. The monks believe in a philosophy of “absolute candor” which means immediate truthfulness with their emotions and perspectives.

While aiding the Romulan evacuation, Picard became close with the monks and Elnor. Having never had a child himself, an older Picard quickly developed a rapport with the young boy. In the midst of the evacuation, Picard received word of the synth attack on Mars and was forced to leave the Romulans to their own devices. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Picard was unable to return to them. Over the course of the next fourteen years, Picards standing on the planet plummeted as the Romulans became increasingly angry about their treatment post supernova.

In the present day, Picard realizes that he will need the assistance of Elnor in his quest to find Soji. He returns to Vashti and is met with hostility and violence, but Elnor decides to join Picard on his quest. He binds his sword to Picard and Picard reveals what that means – that Elnor views the mission as a lost cause.

Meanwhile, on the Artifact, Narek continues to work his way into Soji’s good graces. The two enjoying drinking together and sliding on freshly waxed floors in their socks. Narek’s true intentions remain in trying to pry information from Soji to reveal the location of Maddox and any other androids. His sister, Rizzo, begins to grow impatient with his progress.
